Awareness Through Movement Lesson #45

A lovely ‘nother classic Feldy lesson which I recommend you be extremely gentle with. In the first lesson we began with an agreement with Self, this is where you are encouraged to stay within your comfort zone. It is the act of moving the bones a very tiny amount that matters, not to move them the furthest you can. Please remember that.

Today you’ll be working with the shoulder blades which are designed to SLIDE around and over the ribs (to the top rather than the front!), that’s why there’s so much juicy fascia that separates them. Many people forget, or have been taught to think, that the arms end at the shoulder ‘joint’. This lesson is a reminder that they actually extend through to the spine via what we call ‘blades’.

shoulder blades as wings, humans, chicken wings, feldenkrais. Not the image I was expecting.

Enjoy exploring your Self as a curvaceous living sculpture with knobbly bits that compliment each other.
