Another classic lesson, this one is great for shoulders, arms, wrists, neck… and the spine, pelvis, legs and feet will also benefit.

To prepare you:
”One of the most difficult things about the essence of this lesson lies in its accuracy, that your arms remain exactly sideways, perpendicular to your shoulders. If they are down a little, it defeats the purpose of the lesson. Your elbows need to be exactly sideways.”
which will make more sense when you’re lying on the ground.

The memories of this lesson, from two years of training I heard our trainers repeatedly discuss the merits of this Method,“being creative”, “exploring”, “experimentation”… those words really stuck out for me. So much so that when I was being ‘tested’ to qualify as an Awareness Through Movement practitioner, I took the liberty to be creative, to explore some options outside of the suggested parameters and experiment with the layout of the homework I was given.

It was made clear that my interpretations of these words were very different to the thinking of the people who gave them…. as an instruction.
