Awareness Through Movement #129
Pecking movement Arm circles with lifting the head - DIFFERENTIATION
Vita this might be too challenging for you, Asanga - you got this!
Another classic Feldenkrais “how on earth does he think of these movements” type of lesson which I present to you with a warning. On Earth might be the differentiator.
Speaking of differentiation, Leora explained what she calls one of the principles of their Mind Body Studies Academy.
What we are doing when we differentiate is unlinking a chain and cleaning each piece to remove the rust. We file away any sharp edges that could cause the next link in the chain to glitch, polish each link up and then bring all of the links back together so that as a whole… the whole chain is reinforced to it’s full strength and ability.
That’s why I’ve themed this lesson differentiation, Moshe takes it further as we work our way through the movements.
If you’re anything like me, the title of the lesson could have you start thinking about pecking “orders”. Three weeks ago I was chatting with a friend at a party about her chickens, and they can be ruthless in their hierarchical structure. Some chickens have a dark side. What I read in Moshe’s words is that he was encouraging us to meet ourselves - warts and all.
Oh, and I found another link today that I thought might resonate with some people: The law of backwards is what we’re doing here, or as Vita says, we’re becoming “super” humans. Some people (Nancy, looking at you) could be thinking “super” or “extra” means further away from, however the way I translate those adjectives is that we are getting closer closer to our design AS humans, we become more of that which is inherent to our Selves.
Could be controversial: Navy seals are trained to survive the elements only be drawing from their internal resources, which are inherent in every single human BEing. They use their tools for survival, yet those same tools are available for love, compassion, connecting to the heart and LIVING.
Light shows up in the darkness.
Here’s the lesson, be gentle, it’s your head we’re/I’m/Moshe is messing with. Well, maybe that’s a poor choice of words… I’ll shut up now… maybe:
