Awareness Through Movement #520
Straightening the legs while holding the little toe - SELF ORGANISATION

“It is important that you do what you want to..
that your body is organized to perform the way you want.
I, you, or whoever does it is talented,
when the body,
the intellect,
and everything
is together.”
You may have noticed… the theme for quite a few of these lessons has been
‘self organisation’. You may also have felt a new organisation of self during the lessons… through the question
“how can you organise your self to make this movement more comfortable?”
At first I thought it was weird to be asked.
Internal dialogue rattled on… “what do you mean - how can I organise my self to make this movement comfortable… my foot is in a place it’s never been before, I don’t even know where right is, or left, or, up or down anymore.
How do I begin to organise my self if I can’t figure these basics out?”
Then, as I started to learn more about USING the ribs for example, and being ABLE to move the collar bones away from the ribs, that were so high up, yeah, in my armpits… how could I have NOT known that???… THEN I started to practice connecting with and involving these areas to make the movement less weird and much more… interesting to say the least. I started to have a say in ‘what’ was ‘where’ and even though I still feel upside down at times…. nowadays I feel like I have a way to find the floor and connect with the Earth to ground myself and start to organise what goes where during all the weirdness.
And that’s helped me in unusual life circumstances as well…
as I learn to bring this practice to life and organise my self in many other environments that have been a bit of a struggle.
My learning has been that these ‘movements’ are far greater than physical.
Once the brain learns to adapt to and accept these physically weird configurations I’m finding I have a lot more of a say in the challenges life throws in ‘my’ direction….
And I’m really great-full for that shift.
Here’s tonight’s lesson, for all of us to enjoy learning more about, with and FOR our selves during these novel movements.
