Sometimes hearing the title of something difficult can anticipate a potential challenge… and that could be enough to procrastinate with the thought of things being all ‘too hard’.
My thinking, that by adding the word ‘novelty’ to this lesson, it could invite enough curiosity for people to want to explore what the movements of ‘sole’ to ‘ear’ could possibly have been conjured up by Moshe… because, sometimes simply getting the physical body to a lesson is the biggest hurdle, the rest takes care of its self.
I think that’s what happened with me, I had no idea of what these lessons were actually doing for me, I was at a loss as to why I felt so good afterwards. It was my body that walked me to the lessons, the feet driving a grumpy woman whinging and complaining every step of the way… “another bloody Feldenkrais lesson… what crazy thing will they have us do this time? Why am I even going, what’s the point, I don’t even know what it’s doing…” grumble grumble grumble all the way to the door with a forced smile “hi everyone” before plonking myself down on the ground, exasperated, with a huff.
Now that I believe the human nervous systems has a life of its own, I think it was this system that walked me to lessons, seeking out the respite it needed to live in the chaos I seemed to be a magnet for.
With time, I have learned to listen to my nervous system and respect its wisdom, its knowledge, and its insistence on resting and recovering from the day-to -day stresses life imposes on ‘me’.
Novelty,
provides at least an interesting way to BE in the world.
