Yes, you will need a chair for this lesson, ideally with a back and no arms.

We explore the differences differentiation makes.

Integration of Differentiation of Self | The Western Pennsylvania Family Center
DIFFERENTIATE: to recognize or give expression to a difference

And, it’s a bit like this image, first we differentiate,
we see a heart AND a brain.
When we inspect them separately to realise they’re different colours,

and shapes… they look and feel very different,
because they have very different functions,
each has their own purpose for keeping the human body alive.

While it is important to realise their differences,
it’s also important to realise that without each other the human can not live.

Through his method, Moshe has us examine our skeletal system
in something along these lines.

He guides us through movements, with questions,
to assist us differentiate
for example…. the head from the neck,
where does the head finish and where does the neck start?
The neck from the shoulders,
do you think of the ribs under the shoulder girdle
as part of the shoulders or are they a part of the torso?
The ribs from the pelvis,
when you think of your pelvis
do you think it is where you place your hands “on” the bones at the top,
or where the boney bits meet the chair when you sit
…. or somewhere in between?

Moshe teaches us to move all the areas of our bodies so that each bone fffeeels
its range in relation to the one above,
below, or next to its neighbour.

A bit like taking something apart, removing the pieces,
scrubbing of the dirt and then polishing them
before putting the whole ‘thing’ back together again.

That’s what we do in this lesson, whilst sitting… in a chair.

You’ll be hearing a LOT of words to guide you
through all the different ways to move
and it could get confusing at times.
You are welcome to pause and continue until you have made sense of the pattern… or.. you could simply make up what you think you’re hearing whilst really having absolutely no idea of what you’re supposed to be doing…

believe me, you will not be the first to have that experience!!!

Whichever way you play, be gentle with yourself, move only within your range of comfort AND take rests/pauses whenever you have had enough
- press the stop button and do the rest another day!!!

If you do ‘spend’ a lot of time sitting, these movements can offer relief to back, shoulder, neck pain - and headaches, so please feel free to use these movements whenever your body feels like a change whilst sitting on your rump!

Here’s the lesson, enjoy learning more about, with and FOR your Self :)
