Yesterday I posted about my experience lifting weights through the Feldenkrais Method, moving in spirals. Which is what we’ll be doing tonight, in a twisted way, and why I relate it to the weight lifting is because these gentle movements we do in Feldenkrais have similar benefits…. using our own bodyweight.
There are many benefits to rotational movements, they provide more mobility in the shoulders, hips, neck, and each vertebrae in the spine. this improves co-ordination, the arms, legs, head, eyes, and breathing move more efficiently together. It’s a gentle way to improve strength n the abdomen, for stability and flexibility in the torso.
And the way we do it has a grounding quality, to bring us in to the present moment by focussing the awareness on what is happening as it happens.
By moving slowly and noticing differences we learn how our bodies organize themselves kinetically—which can translate into our relationships and build networks… yeah, like mushrooms!!
