Awareness Through Movement #434

And so we continue unravelling ways we move that keep us habitually connected with our past, and explore the integral options our skeletal systems offer... true to their design. The ribs, rounded on each side, as well as at the top.. they are narrow under the collar bones and scapulae (shoulder blades), then they get wider, deeper to flare out to the sides under the armpits… protecting our heart, lungs, stomach… and then, they narrow down again toward the pelvis.

Being aware of these shapes and using them to our advantage, to return to our childish selves, learning… to learn… free to roll and play using the earth beneath us to press against.

A lovely lesson is here for you tonight to practice timing and precision of movement - you are invited to take away the urge to “be the best”, and instead, play with ways to have your limbs move away from each other before returning to centre at the same time. This ability to shift our awareness is where the magic of Feldenkrais is - and this approach can have the same movement feel deep[y refreshing each and every time.

Have fun learning more with your self this evening :)
