This is a standing lesson and yes, you will need a chair.

Waaaayyyy back in the early days we spoke about the differences between stretching and lengthening… as a reminder you might like to listen to, or see this video:

… you might hear how the philosophy John Sharkey speaks of really fits for this lesson.

Unlike traditional stretching, this lesson improves flexibility through small, repeated movements—like lifting your heels or bowing your head toward your knee. As we’ve been exploring our kinetic connections lately, this lesson could be a great example for feeling how bending each vertebrae of the spine a little more each time connects through into the leg, which then allows a higher lift without pulling or straining your Self.

As always, the Feldenkrais principles apply, stay within your comfort zone and take rests whenever you need.
