And so we continue exploring all the ways to have us move from the ground to standing, effortlessly, having us ready to accept a challenge that many people in their years called ‘aging’… and I’ve seen some younger people get up very awkwardly too, as if it’s a really hard task - going by all the grunts and groans that escape their mouths.
With so many tools in our belts now, we can gradually pull them out as and when needed… using the ground in areas we forget are connected, twisting the ribs in relation to the pelvis for that little extra nudge in the upward direction… and the experiment with toes in the running position vs extended like a ballerina… that continues in this lesson!
Discovering ways to move with utmost efficiency, to transform those little grunts and groans (even the ones we think we’re whispering to ourselves)… to sounds of sweet victory, so much so that we want to repeat the movements… what if that were a goal??
This gentle, mindful approach to movement is a step in that direction, a pathway to discovering all the ways our bodies works best, rather than pushing, or stretching and forcing an outcome. Each of these tiny little (trans) actions improve our sense of BEing by revealing our (bad) habits and transforming them in to possibilities, to have us feel more present and capable. AND, we get to experience anatomical benefits in our muscles, joints, and nervous systems as they collaborate replacing all of those niggling tensions with graceful movement… bare minimum the intention of grace in motion.
Tonight’s lesson is another wordy one with lots of lefts and rights and putting hands here, feet there, while the bum moves in a completely other direction.. all sounding very complex until the sequence comes together and before you know it you’ll be up off the ground like a jack-in-the-box!!!
