We start with a movement we familiarised yesterday, and it gets a little more complex. Vita and Asanga, it might be an idea to do this one in your imagination. You both know how to take care of your Selves, go as far as you feel comfortable and…. perhaps have a pair of long socks or stockings to connect your hands with your feet.
The hand/foot connection mirrors developmental stages (e.g., crawling, rolling) to re-connect with our primal (movement) intelligence.
In true Feldenkrais style we start with something relatively simple, then add some complexity which at the time seems like it makes no sense at all…
and then we return to what is known as the ‘test’ movement to feel how the added complications made that initial simple movement so much easier. In other methods there seems to be an insistence on moving harder, faster, more intensely which sometimes only serves to ingrain habitual, behaviour that causes pain even deeper into our systems. With this method we get to break all the rules and reap the rewards.
Here’s the lesson, enjoy learning more about your Self (break some rules!)
