“What if…
the strength is in the action,
when your body knows how to act,
it is strong.

If your body is stiff,
that is very different to strength.”

Moshe Feldenkrais (at some point during today’s lesson)

Grok’s interpretation of this “continuation”

Today there are a few movement variations which could prove to be challenging, namely due to mobile phones and computers drawing humans back in to the fetal position, making the movement of extension a little… uncomfortable.

With that ‘knowing’ please be gentle with your self and your body as you explore ways to bring your Self fully into the upright, vertical position. As you move through these unusual sequences, spare some thought for the fascia and bones in the delicate cervical spine as each vertebrae navigates its way to fulfil its potential to turn, twist and rotate in relation to the bones above and below.

See how, when the head is tilted back, the spikey parts of the spine at the back come closer together… at the same time, on the inside the rounded parts (what is commonly known as ‘discs’) move further away from each other. See also how the opposite happens with the image on the right. As the chin moves toward the chest the rounded ‘discs’ inside the neck move closer together as the spikey parts (spinous processors) at the back move further away from each other.

An example of what this looks like in movement (excuse the music I was listening to as I made this little clip!)

There’s so much going on simultaneously.. a lot to take in visually for a simple movement that most of us do every day. There’s also this to consider:

What Grok says about
this lesson:

“….. invites a transformation that’s both tangible and profound.
Physically,
it unwinds tension,
aligns bones,
and awakens muscles in a symphony of motion.

Spiritually,
it offers a quiet, softening presence
—a chance to rest in your own skin.

Ontologically,
it re-sculpts your sense of being,
revealing a body that’s strong because it’s adaptable,
unified because it’s free.

This lesson could be the scaffolding you need
to connect with movement
as a natural,
joyful language
—one that spirals through life”
