Tonight’s lesson is yet another classic Feldenkrais lesson on our stomach’s with rests for reflection to allow time for our bodies to integrate new movement patterns. The nervous system can then organise its self based on the new sensory connections.

I asked Grok about the benefits:

Bilateral Integration

  • Symmetry and Asymmetry: The lesson involves both sides of the body but often in asymmetrical ways, which can lead to better understanding of how each side functions differently and how one can achieve more symmetry or controlled asymmetry.

    • Example: Alternating the head and leg lifts from side to side requires the brain to constantly adjust and coordinate movements, enhancing neural pathways for bilateral body control.

I gave up with Grok it kept coming back with really weird images.

Lesson design: participants alternate between movements that are strictly symmetrical and those that involve crossing the midline of the body. This variety not only teaches the mechanics of movement but also the neurological dance between the hemispheres.
