Tonight we continue breaking down lesson #3 from the Alexander Yanai series. Last night Megan brought a prop into the equation, she asked us to bring a towel or a roller to place under the ribs and pelvis as we did the same movement.

It’s rare that ‘exercise’ programs ask people to use the ribs in a movement - use as in to think of them as a tool to press in to the floor as a lever and move people around. Moshe is an exception to this unspoken ‘rule’ in the industry. He saw them as leverage to roll and expand into their full potential - much like how babies do when they learn to stand up. He was an observer of behaviour, and he spent hours studying movement in children to work out their most common patterns of which using the ribs was one very noticable difference between adults and those learning to walk. It seems like once we learned to get up, the ribs were neglected.
