Awareness Through Movement #293

In this lesson Moshe brings our awareness (again) to the C7 which is the bottom of the cervical spine. The vertebra below C7 is the first of the thoracic spine, meaning it has a rib connected to it. Here it is as a lone bone:

remembering every BODY’s C7 is a little different, although they all have the areas pointed to in this image.

It’s an explorative lesson, one where we will be enquiring and feeling, sensing and being the scientist while we examine our Selves during the movements.

Something that stuck out from the chapter I read in Moshe’s biography today:

“We are not defined by our past or posture or muscular tensions,
but by the choices and actions we make in the present.

‘Self-image,’ as Moshe viewed it, dynamically re-forms and grows under the influence of new experiences and learning. We can become ‘mature’ and ‘potent’ and,
to a great extent, independent of our personal, familial, and cultural histories.

Moshe’s attributions of ‘immaturity’ or ‘impotence,’ are not attached to a person or personality, but to the degree of learning a person has achieved within particular functional domains.”

Tonight we will have an opportunity to explore more of that image we hold of our Selves, and be given the space to let go so that we can create a different image if we so choose.
