Awareness Through Movement #251

“As you do this movement you might slowly come to realise
why the legs are so “not okay” and why the pelvis is “not okay.”
The pelvis continually needs to adjust to a foot standing on the floor.
It is not possible to place weight comfortably on every part of the foot without pain if the foot is stuck in its movements.
The pelvis must adjust in the hip joint to the foot and, by doing this,
all the vertebrae of the back, behind,
adjust differently than they need to do and are able to do.
Eliminate all movement in the toes
so the foot can organise quietly without any special interference.”

Tonight we explore the ability to differentiate moving different bones in their full range of movement, then we bring them together to feel their full potential… to:

“….. feel that you work with the muscles such that you balance in your form
rather than your ability.”

Even knowing that difference is worth coming to this class. Some of the movements can be a little tricky, however the sense of balance is well worth time and energy investment.

so when you hear the word ‘gastrocnemius’ you’ll know what Moshe means.

If you can imagine how much more movement is available when the bones of the feet and lower leg are freed up to rotate, flex, extend and reach… then you’ll get a sense of what’s available with tonight’s lesson.

Vita and Asanga friendly… even though you might have to imagine some parts.
