“When I first did this lesson about 24 years ago my notes were:
good
chest
gentle
although starting position somewhat advanced
Revisiting this lesson now I observe a benefit of the hands behind position is that it takes up the slack in the shoulder joint and shoulder girdle articulations.. inviting the ribs to move relative to the relatively immobile scapulae.
I realized this required that I lengthen the front of the neck muscles and the lesson gently and cleverly guides the student to discover this.
IMPORTANT to RESPECT COMFORT
and not to be tempted to “bully” your SELF into the position.
I did this lesson after a series of lessons starting from and highlighting the feet and I felt like my top half was being guided to soften so it could fit over the newly stable bottom half,
and that my legs began to “carry my body” rather than “my body carrying my legs”.
Please enjoy the lesson”
