“The primary intention is to move the bones inside the knee. We have two bones in the lower leg — the tibia and fibula. With most people, these bones stay motionless all their life. Their knees are never in order, and neither are the feet. This will help those knees that are disordered and those ankles that are not in order. For sure it will be good for those who have neither thing in order. Do this movement slowly, without force, because it is impossible to change the world in an instant. Also, to create is not possible in an instant.”
Moshe Feldenkrais
Another classic Feldenkrais lesson which is a bit pretzelly - fantastic for the pelvis (as well as everywhere else)… especially the lower leg bones, which connects to the knee bone, to the thigh bone… pelvis… and the other end, to the feet.
It’s time to introduce Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, I’ve done numerous courses with her (online) and learned about the skeletal system. Here she explains a little about the way our lower legs are designed to move.
If you think of a hinge joint where one end rolls in the other…
It’s very different to rolling OVER a little bump/turtle
test the two experiences for yourself… you could find an extra centimetre in the leg length!
It’s how we think our bodies, that influences HOW we move.
We “Act in accordance with our Self image”.
