So many people talk of outer body experiences as if they are the only magical place to be… what about inner body experiences? These breathing lessons can bring people in touch with their insides in a way that some might think is a bit weird. Who would want to know where their lungs start and end, and how they move inside the basket of bones we call ribs??
The ribs and the pelvis take up the most space in our bodies, their width, length, weight and shapes are the biggest and they have serious jobs - I know, as if the other bones don’t - these big bones protect and nourish our organs… such a big responsibility!! And to think, some people don’t even know how these bones are supposed to move.
With all of the hours we have been investing in these lessons we really do have some inside knowledge that others are not privvy too :)
Here John Sharkey, his approach to the human body, to the ways our cells move is quite edgy… in this clip I’ve cut to when he talks about how movement is critical for nutrition as well. Movement is what moves our cells, it’s what keeps us alive… and the movements don’t have to be huge, it’s simply movement that matters.
Ever watched a baby lie on the ground? They’re usually fascinated by EVERYthing around them, the eyes, legs, arms, head, torso’s are in constant movement. I may have shared this with you already… I remember seeing a video of a mother copying her baby’s movements for 30mins - she was EXHAUSTED at the end and needed a nap, she needed a coffee, whereas the baby kept going without a care in the world!
What we’re doing with these breathing lessons counts as movement, particularly because we bring our awareness to how we move, with that same level of curiosity and intrigue that a baby has for the outside world.
