A continuation of last night’s lesson, or is it? We’ll be on the stomach for most of this lesson, so how can it be part 2?

In a very Feldenkrais move we get to explore similar movements in a different position to show that if our bodies CAN move in to position one way, why not the other?

Megan and I talk about the gravity of the situation we live in… IF we think gravity it’s a bit like walking in quicksand… a constant fight with something that continually pulls us down in to the earth. Whereas, thinking of magnetic forces, or fields, has a very different ‘energy’ you could say. I’ve given this quite a lot of thought and the concept completely changes my relationship to this huge piece of dirt we live on. How this all came about….

I got myself involved in a VR project for a period of time (during the covid days, all of them, plus some).. I was flown in (as an avatar) to land on Perseverance, the rover on Mars to fill in little details about the kind of data it collected, how far it moved, in real time - reading from a cheat sheet that was visible to only my eyes.

The people I was assisting were deeply involved in proving that we live in magnetic fields rather than gravity. They were studying patterns of the sun and how our natural disasters happened when the solar flares were strongest. We did talks via VR showing global maps of the earth with tectonic plates that seemed to often be affected by earthquakes, and presented the listeners with data, and an intention to question what it is we are taught at school... that gravity was an unquestionable truth. The project was interesting to say the least.

And now, when I hear “gravity” it’s difficult to NOT think of magnetic fields, for me it’s a game changer to think of myself as a conduit between two fields… seeking a balance between the two. After some Feldenkrais lessons I’ve felt that balance, so light and free.. that I can’t help but STOP thinking there’s some truth in something it feels like I’m not supposed to know. For my curious mind, that makes this theory all the more interesting!!

A lot to take in as an introduction to this lesson, maybe what you’re reading will make sense when you’re on the ground, with parts of you lifting… or being lifted :)

You might enjoy reading this quote from the lesson:
