As I schedule this and see today’s date a smile creeeeeps in, turning into a victorious little sneer and a nod of the head - winter,
IT’S ALMOST OVER :)
Well, for us in the Southern Hemisphere anyway. The sun is shining and it’s a little bit warm directly underneath it, and still really cold in the shade of apartments that have the insulation of a shack.
Winter is the time for inner reflection, perfect for doing these lessons during what can be seen as the quiet time of the year… in preparation for a SPRING into the next season, to be more pro-active during the summer months.. before winding down in Autumn. It’s like the phases of the new, waxing, full and waning moons over an annual period… the tidal pulls, ebbs and flows that some say our bodies (made largely of water) respond to. And, yes, I’m aware… some people apply the same philosophy(?) through the equinox’s of each year as well.
Good on you for being here during the toughest months when you’ve probably wanted to curl in a ball, breathing in to your belly until the sun comes out!
Tonight we explore part two with bending the fingers backward and it kind of gives me a sense of how Moshe worked through these manuals. As he delivered the lessons to around 200 people in a room, he noticed how his instructions were received, how people moved in response to his words and it’s as though he took mental note… “that’s interesting way to interpret what I just said”. And then he explored that way of moving and further developed a lesson to deliver the following day.
His “work” was never ending, and each and every participant in the room wsa large part of the development of this Method. Moshe was renowned for lying down in a quiet space and imagining through the movements before delivering a lesson. His chest slowly rising and falling giving the appearance of him being in a deep sleep… yet when the clock struck, up he’d pounce like a cat fully switched on ready to deliver the next lesson. I think of him like a conductor of an orchestra, eyes and ears keenly attuned to people responding to his words… as though he were starting the day afresh after a deep sleep.
What if… that’s the aim of this work? To be able to rest so deeply whilst fully aware of our surroundings… like a ninja :)
