There are many methods that teach people THE way to breathe, whereas with Feldenkrais there are many ways that invite people to explore options. In one lesson, (not sure which one it is, this comes from memory) Moshe says beware of anybody who says their way is the only way. Having been around people who know the right way, I tend to agree... exploring all these options is way more fun.

To be able to move in any of the cardinal directions, up/down/left/right/forward/backward when we need to, in response to what is happening around us… it takes being present to both our environment and what’s going on within us. The aim with Feldenkrais is to feel these movements, to be aware of what is happening as it happens, then we have an access into the present moment.. and we can move from any direction appropriately… it’s a very different angle than what most breathing techniques teach.

Explore them all and sit with the one that most fits for you.

Megan Hopley walks us through tonight’s rhythms, her movement practice began forming in the mid 1990’s with studies in Martial arts; Wing Chun Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong. Now as a Feldenkrais practitioner she teaches lessons in different areas around Melbourne. Like with the breathing methods, different practitioners have quite different ways to teach these lessons. This Method brings out more of the self, so the flavour can change a bit depending on who’s delivering the class. Tonight you’ll get a taste of Megan!
