Awareness Through Movement #172

“We are talking about a small difference, which is a huge difference in the behaviour of your body; however since we are habituated to these movements with each one always making their own mistake, we have to wake up completely and pay attention to whether we really do what we think we are doing.”

POTENCY came to mind as I was preparing this lesson, accessing our potent selves through the breath. A movement that keeps us alive, and we do it approximately 22 THOUSAND times a day.

Are you aware of HOW you breathe?

all the cells are involved in those movements, within us and surrounding us.

Although we have explored the movement of the skeletal system as it moves to contract and expand with each breath, we haven’t really talked about the sensation of “holding” and “releasing” the breath… and that’s what Moshe invites us to explore today through this lesson.

What often happens for me after a lesson is that there’s a stronger sense of the exchange between internal and external. When “me” and the outside world, my environment are more connected than usual, I know how different this is compared to when I’m being driven by anxiety. Then, my whole posture changes, I internalise as the thoughts run rampant and cause me to shrink into myself.

Like I’m holding on - to what… is still a mystery.

Then, after doing a lesson the difference is noticeable, there’s a feeling of releasing that has me feel more like I’m part of this exchange between me and the planet I live on, am part of:

Sometimes I think of this exchange as a shift between the internal and external authority, and the more practice I get, the more aware of my surroundings I become.

That’s got to be a good thing, right?

This lesson is yours, interpret it whatever way you will/want.

See you tonight :)
