If you’ve ever felt, heard your head resist, this could be the lesson for you!!
Some of the things Moshe says cracks me up.. who talks like this? He speaks as though the head has a mind of its own and will do what it can to resist a movement. Imagine the head doing its own thing while the rest of your/my/our bodies tag along. It’s an unusual thought, and yet…
oh, wait… is this what Feldenkrais is all about??
To be head, strong…
Yeah, nah, that couldn’t be me!!
or, to be a little “heady”…
when things come to a head,
and sometimes we give somebody a “heads up”.
and now Moshe invites us to explore if, when, and how our heads possibly resist us… like a head wind.
As I think this through, it could be one of the reasons he’s been reminding us to involve more of the larger muscles and bones of the torso. When those areas are given back their job to lift the heavy bits, the arms, legs (and the head)… then the chances of the head resisting the movement become smaller, and those heavy bits become lighter.
#105 is a lesson in extension, which is not a favourite for many people, given how now with mobile phones many people are hunched forward returning to the fetal position. In 45 minutes you could undo that pattern and lift your chest to stand with a different view of the world.. if you want.
